Abstract:
Design patterns document solutions to problems commonly encountered in
object-oriented design.  Many of these patterns aid in software reuse
by containing dependencies inside a known and restricted set of
classes.  This paper applies known design patterns to achieve reuse in
systems using a CORBA environment.  The design patterns are needed
because CORBA clients and servers typically contain dependencies on
the particular CORBA product.  The design patterns discussed here
allow client and server code to be used in different CORBA products
and in single address space systems that do not use any CORBA product.
